MCW 2022

Ministerial Candidate Workshop

May 13-15, 2022

Camp Garner Creek Retreat Center

Dickson, TN

This weekend is uniquely designed to provide licensed ministers seeking ordination a deeper understanding of their calling.

The goal of the workshop is to help candidates:

  • Identify personal strengths and giftedness

  • Receive focused guidance and direction

  • Develop deeper self-awareness

  • Cultivate supportive relationships with district leaders

At the heart of the workshop are times of worship designed to draw parallels between great leaders in the Bible and today's need for God-directed pastors.

Each attendee will receive a private consultation with a professional assessment specialist fo help discover and understand their unique ministry profile.  Additionally, seminars will be held during the Ministerial Candidate Workshop (MCW) with the goal of arming attendees with tools for and insights into ministry.

Each part of this workshop has been designed to build upon the next, creating a journey of self-awareness.

Professional Seminar Line-up:

  • A Plan for Spiritual Formation

  • Flourishing in Ministry

  • Staying Connected in the Midst of Ministry

  • Strengths Focused Ministry

  • Single in Ministry

What this is all about...

The vision for the assessment process and the MCW is to assist in the equipping of licensed candidates seeking ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.  The MCW is the result of regional district superintendents and the Center for Pastoral Health working together to provide licensed ministers with "tools of effectiveness".

The Regional planning team has been working together to plan the workshop for the spring of 2022.  The intention of this year's MCW is for districts to invite licensed ministers to attend that have reached a level of assigned ministry as determined by the individual district and/or within two-four years of ordination candidacy.

Participants must be registered by December 15, 2021

Following registration, assessment instruments including the PAI (Personality Assessment Inventory), the NEO-Personality Inventory the MSI (Marital Satisfaction Inventory), the StrenghFinders Inventory, and others are sent to each candidate.  Together, these material take approximately seven hours to complete.

After completed materials are received, results are reviewed by a professional assessment specialist in preparation for the private consultations which will take place during the MCW.  Feedback from these assessments is designed to help identify each candidate's unique ministry gifting.

During the MCW, candidates and spouses will interact with each other, attend seminars, and spend time in prayerful reflection.  This workshop is designed to be an uplifting and informative experience for each candidate (and his/her spouse).
